I just wanted to share this amazing picture. I bought my underwater housing from one of the surfers in the picture, someone he knows took it a couple of years back in NZ. Visit his website here. He does stunning surf photography.

Nov 2 2008 is a day to look out for, I will be running my 2nd New York marathon together with a very good friend of mine. We are looking to have a great experience and enjoy the magical experience. We are also going to fundraise money for a human aid project in Zambia, more news on this will be posted soon.
Just another week until I go to the Galapagos Islands. I will be staying at the Charles Darwin Center and my research project is on Sustainable Development of tourism. Galapagos is becoming more and more popular with tourists and estimates show that this year over 150.000 people will visit the islands, which puts the unique habitat ‘at risk’.
I also hope to visit the Sea Shepherd office on the Galapagos, who are doing amazing work for conservation and protection:
“The Galapagos is our line in the sand. If humanity cannot protect such a unique and diverse ecosystem, we will not be able to protect any ecosystem. The Galapagos is a challenge and battlefield for the effort to halt human greed and destruction. These Enchanted Isles are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and this means all of us have a responsibility to help protect them from illegal exploitation.”
Another very pleasant surprise during my visit to Washington DC was to see Dave Brubeck and Ramsey Lewis perform at the Kennedy Concert Hall. I have seen Dave Brubeck perform before at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague (he is well in his 80s) and I did not expect to see him perform ever again. Like winning a lottery ticket I was very luck to find out that he was playing that night. While waiting in row for standby tickets, I met Jason Johnson, a Jazz photographer, and coincidentally we received tickets sitting next to each other. The concert was great, with some unique moments where Dave Brubeck played like he was in his 30s. For the second half of the concert Ramsey Lewis (three time Grammy award winner) performed, famous for his songs Wade in Water and The Inn Crowd. The concert was of a different energy level than Brubeck and the combination of Jazz and Gospel music has a great sound to it. One of those nights I will never forget…
